Sounding a little like Clint here, but "i know what you're thinking...."how in the heck can this little place be that good? Well here's the low down: a lot of people don't know what good Mex food is - they have nothing to compare what they're eating, so you read reviews that say, " no flavor, too spicy, to hot, not hot enough... So they could end up with the Gringo version and not even know it and with certain areas having lots of taquerias it's tough to sort out. Yelp is a good place to start. With De La Hacienda you look arounds at who is ordering, Who is eating and you get a sense of what kind of food is coming out of the kitchen-- beautiful looking, tasting food that lives up,to its reputation. I saw workers wearing hard hats, policemen, landscapers, a lot mostly Hispanic and a fair amount of people like me-- looking like non of the above. The staff is customer friendly. Service is quick and food quality very good. Had chili verde with the usual sides, my grandson a giant burrito half of which he took home. Yup,that big. All reasonably priced for the delivered plates. No canned anything, no fake sauces, the meat in my verde was roughly 1" cube cut pork.tender and seasoned well. The Rice was freshly made, ditto the refried beans. It's a small restaurant that put out big flavor with a super friendly staff. Andele!,

Straight up the fastest food service I've ever experienced. They didn't have shrimp so I asked for sautéed veggies and carnitas a common thing I order at Mexican restaurants but the guy taking my order seemed a little impatient and confused and irritated so I ended up just ordering a side of chicken with rice and beans. I know everyone has rough days and the service industry is hard so although I didn't get what I wanted The food was still very good and it came so fast like we literally ordered sat down and the food was coming it was impressive lol fresh and warm ingredients my son got the tacos never seen tacos like that very unique and yummy

So delicious and filling, me and my Son loved it. First time there and we will be back! My son says their chips were at a whole new level!!!

Very cute and quaint spot! Food was delicious, I got 2 chicken enchiladas and absolutely devoured them! Staff was very polite and fast, we waited less than 10 minutes for our food!

This is our favorite place to eat, it feels like home. I recommend the bistec plate or the corn quesadillas. Yum! The food is so delicious and everyone who works there is friendly and makes us feel special. It's always clean and relaxed. It's perfect for takeout or dining in. The service is fast, the salsas are fantastic and the food is fabulous.

Wow, super delicious authentic Mexican food! Their outdoor patio has beautiful greenery to enjoy while you eat. The service was kind and quick to give us our order or anything we needed! Great portion size for the price. Try the nachos! Within walking distance to downtown Santa Cruz or the Wharf.

Really friendly staff, we dined in and could tell there were a lot of regulars who stopped by. The portions were big! We ordered a quesadilla and four tacos for two people and we couldn't finish. Chicken Quesadilla: The chicken was well cooked and had smokey flavors. However, we wished there was enough cheese in the quesadilla for a cheese pull. The tacos that we ordered (beef, bbq pork, chicken, and pork) were huge - stuffed with meat, beans, and cabbage. Definitely try the green hot sauce!!
